CHARACTER INFO
• Character Name: Trixie
• Character Age: Around mid-late 30s, although Trixie is unsure of her actual age.
• Character Canon: Deadwood
• Canon Point: Trixie's been pulled from a day or so after her failed assassination attempt of George Hearst, which happens in the third season. She's been in hiding to avoid the very public execution that would follow if she were caught by Hearst's goons.
• Character History:
Trixie was born in the year ????, to parents ????? and ?????. Very little is known about what happened to Trixie in her youth, but judging by Al Swearengen's typical means for securing whores in the early days, it was likely that she was in an orphanage in a Midwestern city - possibly Chicago - and from that orphanage sold to Swearengen who turned her out and eventually brought her out to Deadwood.
It's mentioned by Trixie that before the events in the series began she had been addicted to opium, and had induced seven miscarriages when inadvertently impregnated by some of the Gem clients. It's also implied that because of her status as 'favorite whore', she's gotten away with quite a few transgressions against some of the more abusive clients.

Deadwood Season 3 Summary
• Character Personality:
—Compassionate: Despite her tough exterior and the hardships she endures as a prostitute in the rough n' tumble mining camp of Deadwood, Trixie is deeply empathic and cares for those around her, even when it would be far easier to only care about herself. Trixie shows off her compassionate side most notably in her relationship with Alma Garret, whom she assists through difficult times, and in her protective instincts towards those who are vulnerable in the camp.
Trixie's softer side is especially seen with one person, the young girl, Sophia, who is orphaned by road agents working for Al Swearengen, and becomes a ward of Alma Garrett. Sophia is an innocent, and Trixie is immediately drawn to her and inclined to care for her. It's only Sophia that's spared Trixie's harsh edges. She never raises her voice to her, never curses, is never once anything but a kind and caring second mother to this girl. Through this connection Trixie also comes to care for the Widow Garrett herself, helping her through her opium addiction and actively lying to Al about it despite knowing the danger that this puts her in.
—Resilient: She faces immense challenges—from her role as a prostitute under Al Swearengen’s control to surviving in the harsh, lawless environment of Deadwood. Despite her difficult circumstances, she constantly finds ways to assert her autonomy and protect herself and those she cares about. Her strength is evident in her determination to improve her life, whether by educating herself, standing up to powerful figures like Swearengen, or finding ways to support Alma Garret. Trixie’s ability to endure, adapt, and fight for a better life demonstrates her unyielding resilience.
Trixie gets knocked down quite a few times over the course of the series, and always manages to fight her way back onto her feet. This isn't to say she doesn't struggle, she does, and quite terribly too with various feelings of guilt and remorse and self-loathing, but it makes her ability to push on all the more impressive.
— Clever: Trixie is the walking definition of 'street smart'. With no formal education or training, Trixie manages to say and do all the right things to not only keep herself alive long enough to see past the age of 30, but somehow thrive in a place where women are only commodities. She knows how to navigate the very macho male world of Deadwood to become someone with a fair amount power and respect, despite her humble origins and upbringing.
— Afraid: Her fear stems from multiple sources: her dependency on Al Swearengen, her traumatic past, and the uncertainty of her future. She often fears for her safety and well-being, knowing that stepping out of line could have severe consequences in the violent world she inhabits. Her moments of vulnerability, where her fear becomes evident, highlight the internal struggles she faces. Whether it’s fear of losing control over her life, being unable to protect those she cares about, or confronting her own sense of worth, Trixie’s fear is a significant part of her character, and one she struggles with constantly.
— Impulsive: Trixie acts on raw emotion, whether it’s in fits of anger, frustration, or passion. Her quick temper and sharp tongue often lead her to make rash decisions, like resorting to violence or berating people verbally. Trixie has the habit of lashing out rather viciously (and colorfully) when she's embarrassed or hurt, and actively pushes people away from her attempt to take her out of her comfort zone. She can be vicious with these tirades, jumping straight to calling the widow an 'uppity cunt' when there was even the whiff of a reminder of her status as a whore. The worst example of her impulsive nature getting the better of her is when she shoots George Hearst in a fit of hurt and fear without fully considering the consequences.
—Stubborn: Trixie is incredibly stubborn, a trait built on years of survival in the harshest of environments. When given the chance to change - a new love interest with Sol Star, a new career in doing the books for the hardware store - Trixie tries to quit at the first hint of a struggle and chooses to go back to her life in the saloon. Even when Al insists on letting Trixie go, pushing her out and encouraging her to embrace a new and far better life, Trixie continues to go back to Al and the Gem. It isn't that she just continues to work as a prostitute either, she chooses to continue spying and serving Al's interests, and reports to him first whenever there's news in the camp that could benefit his (usually self-serving and violent) interests.
When it comes down to it, Trixie may have been born to this difficult life, but she's been successful in her role. She rose to become the favorite whore and to have the ear of the most influential man in the camp. She's good at what she does, and when presented with the options to change her ways or learn from her mistakes, she tends to fall back into familiar patterns. She refuses to back down, even in the face of overwhelming odds or powerful figures like Al Swearengen. Her stubborn nature is driven by her fierce desire to assert her independence and maintain control over her own life, despite living in a world that constantly tries to strip that from her. Her stubbornness often leads her to resist help, reject advice, and make decisions based solely on her own terms.
• Character Skills:
•Medical Knowledge: Trixie has some basic medical skills, which were both self-taught and from assisting the camp doctor in procedures. She assists with Alma Garret’s opium addiction and later her medically-induced miscarriage, and has a practical understanding of treating wounds and other minor ailments.
